Anti-Americanism is rife. It’s also bullcrap.
Was in very casual conversation with some guy yesterday. One minute he’s saying the USA is a totally money driven society and it’s get-rich-quick-but-screw-you. The next minute he’s going on about how they are Christian fundamentalists nuts.
I’m thinking – Make up your mind.
There was no point stopping him in mid flow tho ... And minutes later he trotted out the old classic “Americans are stupid” line. Hand on …
The UsofA has the largest economy in the world x5, it leads the world in business, technology, and who knows what else … And you want me to believe they’re all stupid?
Now I’m thinking, how dumb is this guy? I casually asked him – You’ve spent a lot of time in the states?
He’d been once for a weekend.

I think a lot of anti-Americanism is based on our fear of what it's capable of rather than what it actually is now. A heck of a lot of its dirty linen has been washed in public and that affects how we look at its leaders, not necessarily its people. I met lovely Americans over here and online, but I am afraid of the Christian fundamentalists especially the End Timers, and some of its leaders who do seem intent on world domination eventually. Your guy was probably just mouthing off cliches and that type of talk is everywhere - also the USA may be the largest economy in the world but its debt is mind boggling, and a huge number of its working population have to slave at their jobs with little time off and very low wages, so there is a huge discrepancy between the haves and have nots, which could be remedied but the rich won't allow it so...I too tend to mouth off at times at the good ol US of A...
